Spring Wood is ancient woodland through which runs a section of Brockle Beck. The aim of the project is to provide dappled shade to the river and increase its productivity by removing none native trees such a sycamore from the stream margins. In addition, while we are on site, we are taking the opportunity to help protect the ancient woodland by removing the none native trees and the associated regeneration. The scheme is funded through the Forestry Commission, with the kind support of Lodore Estates and is managed by West Cumbria Rivers Trust.
