West Cumbria Rivers Trust calls for new youth panel members to have a say in the future of West Cumbria’s rivers & lakes

West Cumbria Rivers Trust (WCRT) is inviting young people aged 14-18 with a passion for the environment to join their Youth Panel, a unique opportunity to actively participate in shaping conservation and regeneration projects for Cumbria’s vital rivers and lakes. In collaboration with the National Trust, WCRT aims to bring perspectives of younger people into the planning and implementation of future projects, fostering a new generation of environmental leaders.

Youth Panel Benefits and Activities

As a Youth Panel member, participants will engage in hands-on conservation activities such as site project visits, tree planting, and ecological work. The role also provides exclusive opportunities to develop creative and leadership skills through film and photography workshops, and even attend WCRT trustee and leadership team meetings.

Participation involves a commitment of 6-8 events or activities annually, with additional online meetings to discuss specific project goals and feedback on the Trust’s plans.

Information Day in Keswick – Saturday, 2nd November

Prospective Youth Panel members are invited to an open event at WCRT’s Keswick office to learn more about the initiative. Attendees will have the chance to meet the WCRT team, chat with current Youth Panel members, and participate in an acorn planting activity. Lunch will be provided.

• Date: Saturday, 2nd November 2024
• Time: 11:00 am – 1:30 pm
• Location: WCRT Offices, Keswick
