Volunteering: Himalayan balsam pulling and site visit near Loweswater

25th July 2022

When: Monday 25th July, 10am - 3pm
Where: Near Loweswater
What: Himalayan Balsam Pulling and site visit

Himalayan Balsam is an invasive, non-native plant that prevents native species from growing, chokes our waterways, and causes riverbank erosion. Join us to pull it up - no experience is necessary as we’ll show you what to do! Everyone is welcome - as long as you are happy bending down and pulling up plants! Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We’ll also be visiting the newly re-wiggled section of Dub Beck, so come along if you’d like to find out more about river restoration.

Please bring waterproofs, clothing suitable for the weather, sturdy footwear/wellies, drinks, lunch and gloves if you have them.

Tools will be provided.

No experience necessary.

Booking is essential, please contact Izzie on izzie@westcumbriariverstrust.org
