Permanent Post - Full job description & person specification

West Cumbria Rivers Trust is a registered environmental charity dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the wildlife and habitats of rivers, lakes and the surrounding countryside in West Cumbria. We are a young and successful Rivers Trust with a territory covering several principal river catchments which include seven iconic lakes spanning a substantial part of the English Lake District and Western Cumbria. We have an impressive track record of successful delivery of projects and a steady growth and are now looking to employ an Assistant Director to help manage the expanding number of projects and staff.

WCRT’s biggest River Restoration Project to date has been a fabulous re-meandering project on Whit Beck near Lorton which has created a major new habitat for wildlife. WCRT are now looking for an Assistant Director to take up the River Restoration challenge and stamp their name on other River Restoration projects in West Cumbria. Projects will include weir removals, re-meandering schemes and Natural Flood Management (NFM) schemes.

The successful candidate will have a degree in an environmental subject and/or an appropriate engineering discipline and have at least 5 years experience in successful project management of river related projects, fundraising and staff management. You will be a self-starter who can demonstrate a committed, mature and flexible approach and have the passion to take our River Restoration Projects and the work of WCRT to new heights. You will also have excellent organisational, communication and reporting skills.

You will be part of a small but expanding team based in Keswick, Cumbria, reporting to the Trust Director and supported by WCRT’s Trustees and staff.

If you believe that you have the passion, commitment and skills to take this exciting opportunity forward then we would like to hear from you. If you would like to discuss the post further please contact Jodie Mills, WCRT Director on 017687 75429 or email jodie@westcumbriariverstrust.org

To apply for this post please send your CV with a covering letter setting out your experience and qualifications as highlighted in the job specification to jodie@westcumbriariverstrust.org. Closing Date for applications is midnight on Sunday 17th September. Interviews will be held in Keswick on Friday 29th September.
