We have our start of season litter pick on the River Derwent and we’d love you to join us.
It’s taking place this Sunday the 26th April, meeting at 10am in the layby on the east side of Portinscale Suspension Bridge, Keswick. The plan is to walk downstream towards High Stocks Bridge picking litter as we go. If you’ve joined us before you’ll know we’ve had all sorts of weather but it’s always been fun. We are hoping to have canoe support again this year as they made a huge difference both in collecting precariously placed litter, but also in transporting the rubbish downstream to the exit point.
So if you’d like to join us please drag your friends and family along too. Stay for as long as you like as all help will be hugely appreciated, although if you plan to be out all afternoon you’ll probably be finishing off on your own as we will be back home with a cuppa!
Don’t forget to bring something to nibble and a drink, and of course clothing for all weather conditions; waterproofs, woollies, wellies, sunhats, sun cream and some gloves, I suspect we won’t be wearing them all at the same time but I’ll bring my camera just in case!
We hope to see you all there and keep your fingers crossed for the sunhat and sun cream scenario - hooray for summer!
