The upper most river crossing of the old railway line. Access for the works was only possible from the left hand bank. However, the right hand bank abutment was totally destroyed in the November 2009 flood. The mid river buttress was accessible from the left hand bank. Discolouration (sediment) of the river was kept to a minimum by using the block sandstone (from the abutment) to create a working platform for the heavy plant and allowing the river to clear if it became discoloured (see time lapse film).
