The middle river crossing of the River Derwent of the old railway line, again was only accessible for remediation from the left hand bank. However, the mid river buttresses were accessible from the large gravel bar during low flows. The block sandstone (from the dismantled abutment) was used to create a working platform from which the heavy plant could relay the stone from the five central buttresses back across the main channel (see time lapse film).
