The Ellenwise project has just had its first birthday! And it is amazing what we have achieved in the Crookhurst catchment. Lots of interventions are complete and many more are in progress. Below are some pictures of projects which are now finished and already helping to reduce pollution in the Crookhurst catchment.
Concreting a yard and reinforcing it removes all the cracks which slurry runs through, so all the dirty water can be collected and prevented from reaching the beck.
Placing hardcore in livestock pens reduces the amount of mud and muck which can run onto the road and ultimately into the beck.
Fencing off a small tributary means animals can no longer defecate in the water and the ungrazed vegetation will hold the banks together to prevent erosion.
