West Cumbria Rivers Trust and the National Trust’s next volunteer event in Wasdale will be balsam bashing along the banks of the River Irt. This invasive species can take over vast areas pushing out native flora. When the plant dies back over winter this leaves a bare patch of earth vulnerable to soil erosion.
When: Wednesday 13th July (regular events on 2nd Wednesday of each month)
Meeting point: National Trust Gaterigghowe Sawmill, Gosforth, Seascale, CA20 1ES (NY 10801 03916) – please park at the old sawmill itself.
Time: 9.30am till around 3.30pm (leave whenever you wish)
Please bring: Lunch, sturdy footwear and waterproof clothing.
Please could you let Chris West (email@example.com, 07496590987) or Andrew Porter (Andrew.Porter@nationaltrust.org.uk) know that you plan to attend so we have an idea of who to expect.
