Brash bundle making

11th May 2016

West Cumbria Rivers Trust and the National Trust’s next event in Wasdale will be making bundles of brash. Later in the year when the in river working season is open the brash bundles will be used to help slow the rate of erosion of the river banks downstream of Craghouse Bridge on the River Irt. Brash bundles help to do this by reducing the velocity of the passing water thereby decreasing its power to erode the banks.

Access to the woodland work site is limited therefore we shall use a meeting point and then either walk or group together in vehicles.

When: Wednesday 11th May

Meeting point: National Trust Gaterigghowe Sawmill, Gosforth, Seascale, CA20 1ES (NY 10801 03916) – please park at the old sawmill itself.

Time: 9.30am till around 3.30pm (leave whenever you wish)

Please bring: Lunch, clothes and footwear suitable for any weather at the moment!

Please could you let Chris West (chris@westcumbriariverstrust.org, 07496590987) or Andrew Porter (Andrew.Porter@nationaltrust.org.uk) know that you plan to attend so we have an idea of who to expect.
