West Cumbria Rivers Trust and the National Trust’s next event in Wasdale will be making bundles of brash. Later in the year when the in river working season is open the brash bundles will be used to help slow the rate of erosion of the river banks downstream of Craghouse Bridge on the River Irt. Brash bundles help to do this by reducing the velocity of the passing water thereby decreasing its power to erode the banks.
Access to the woodland work site is limited therefore we shall use a meeting point and then either walk or group together in vehicles.
